Description

The anti-armour rifleman is the primary role for engaging armoured targets.
He can employ a variety of missile launchers to destroy or disable enemy vehicles and fortifications .

Role

The anti-armour rifleman, or more commonly anti-tank (AT) soldier fills the important niche of reliably disabling enemy armour threats.
Enemy vehicles like the Kamysh IFV or T-100 Varsuk main battle tank are impervious to small arms fire, and in the absence of friendly armour or air support, the AT soldier is the only person able to destroy those threats.
The AT rifleman needs to know the differences between his weapons, when and how to use it, and communicate effectively with the rest of the platoon to avoid wasting ammunition.
Often times it is not necessary to destroy or blow up an enemy vehicle; it might be wise to save a missile if a MBT's turret and engine are already disabled - the target is no longer a threat.
Depending on the situation at hand, the anti-armour rifleman might use man-portable air-defense systems (MANPADS) to engage hostile rotary or fixed wing air targets.

When firing the launcher, it is imperative to make sure that no friendlies are standing in the backblast area!
Firing a launcher from inside a building or with the back to a wall can result in injury or death due to backblast!

For this, the AT rifleman should - before firing his launcher - shout "Clear backblast".
Then, only after the section lead or other nearby friendlies answer with "Backblast clear" is the AT rifleman allowed to fire his launcher.

The Anti-armour Basic Certification is available for everyone who wants to learn the basics of being an AT Rifleman.
It teaches the basics of locking on and firing missile launchers, as well as firing unguided ammunitions and the different types of targets.

Weapons

The anti-armour rifleman uses a variety of missile launchers, each suited for different tasks.

Assault Rifle

As with all specialised classes, the anti-armour rifleman is still a rifleman first and foremost.
Due to the weight of his missile launcher and its ammunition however, a more lightweight carbine version might be used, for example a MK20C instead of a Mk20, or an MXC instead of the full-size MX assault rifle.

M3 MAAWS (Carl Gustav)

The M3 MAAWS, or Carl Gustav is a relatively light-weight recoilless rifle, firing unguided HEAT or HE rounds.
Because of its unguided nature, every AT soldier should spend some time at the range to familiarise himself with the projectile drop over distance.
It has very lightweight ammunition, allowing the AT soldier to carry a large number of rounds.
The HE ammunition is very effective for clearing occupied buildings or other enemy fortifications, giving extra flexibility to the section and making it a great fire support weapon.
Against strongly armoured targets, like MBTs, however, the Carl Gustav is not as effective as the other dedicated AT launchers.

PCML

The PCML is a basic, lock-on AT missile launcher able to disable or destroy most armoured targets.
It can also be dumbfired without a lock, and has a very distincive flying curve that might need some training to get used to.

Titan MRPL Compact (AT)

The Titan Compact launcher is an AT missile launcher capable of destroying every armoured target the section might come up against.
It can be fired without a lock, which causes the missile to be laser-guided, following the launcher's crosshairs until it hits the target.
When using the lock-on feature, the launcher can switch between a direct approach or a top-down attack, hitting the less armoured top, by pressing P.
The Titan Compact also can fire Anti-Personnel missiles to destroy groups of infantry.

The Javelin fills the same niche as the Titan Compact as a dedicated AT launcher against highly armoured targets, being the strongest AT option available.
It can only be fired when locked on, and can also switch between direct or top-down attack for added effect.

Titan MRPL (AA)

The larger, hexagonal Titan MRPL AA launcher is the first option to engage enemy air targets.
It can lock onto rotary and fixed wing aircraft, but also deflected by flares.
Firing at the target while it is either coming towards or moving away from the shooter is usually the most efficient way.

The Stinger is the second anti-air option and shares most of its properties with the Titan MRPL AA launcher.

Ammunition

A backpack is needed to carry additional missiles, but the total carry weight has to be kept in mind.
For his reason, it is advisable to have other riflemen in the section carry additional missiles for the AT rifleman, spreading the total weight over more people, to increase the section's mobility.

Protective Gear

A helmet is to be worn at all times - for very light loadouts the Combat Helmet may be downgraded to a Light Combat Helmet.
The default vest provides a good mix of low weight, high carrying capacity and protection.
For low-mobility loadouts, the Reach Heavy Vests provide significantly increased protection against bullets, but at the price of a higher weight and lower carrying capacity. Since the vest's carrying capacity is of little concern for the AT soldier, this is not a big drawback - the additional weight however makes the AT soldier even slower.

Other Equipment

The temptation to fill the vest with additional magazines and grenades should be resisted, to keep the total weight of the anti-armour rifleman down.
Because of the heavy missile launcher and its ammunition, the AT soldier is already most likely the heaviest and thus slowest member of the section.
